How Chip-Enabled Credit Cards Improve Security
More and more security breaches have been hitting the news, leaving cardholders feeling unsure about the safety of their credit cards and accounts. That's where the EMV technology comes in to save the day! EMV technology uses a microchip in your credit card to encrypt your financial information. It’s just a more secure version of the magnetic strip that’s on the back of your credit card now. It’s verified at a point of sale terminal, just like a normal credit card, but the more advanced technology makes it possible to have a much stronger form of encryption, which makes your data more secure. We've put together a quick infographic so you can get the scoop on EMV and know what's coming to a wallet near you.
Florida Credit Union Visa credit card holders will soon be getting EMV cards, too. You don't have to do anything special to receive one - it'll be sent right to your mailbox. However, if the information on your account doesn't reflect your current address, you'll want to contact your local FCU branch right away to update your account.
For more information about FCU EMV Cards, check out our FAQ page here or call your local Florida Credit Union branch. If you don't currently have an FCU Visa, you can learn more about what we have to offer by visiting our personal banking services section here.
